A brand is not merely your logo or corporate colors. Your brand is the sum-total of everything about your company: your look and feel, your culture, how you interact with your customers, how you keep your promises, the way you do business, etc. Just like with a person, they can dress in expensive clothes, be charming and persuasive, drive an expensive car, but if they constantly go back on their word to you the rest falls away and they are then known as unreliable. It is much the same for companies.

A business can look big and professional, with a multimillion dollar website and large corporate headquarters, but if they are shipping defective products and give lousy customer service, people will no longer trust them.

Building a brand for a company begins with discovering what it is about a particular business that is its ‘soul’; the raison d’etre for its existence. Making money as the main reason for being in business is not a strong core value. What is it about your business that you can do better than anyone else? The answer to this question should not be taken lightly.
